Final: AED 200 Reflection Post

1. What were your expectations for this course and where they met?
My expectations were to learn new things that I did not know considering I already took like 2 in-person art classes before this one. This class was supposed to serve as an elective but it became more than that as I started to learn new things and got intrigued. I learned about art history, different methods of creating art pieces, I learned what an art curator was and I got to be one myself which was pretty cool. I loved this class and the challenges it posed each week.
2. Now that you've been through this course, What is art? How would you define it now compared to your initial posting?
Now that I've been in the course I can say that I believe that art is what you make it. Art can be a statement, art can be a story, art can still be a craft that you may enjoy doing. Art comes in many forms such as paintings, sculptures, visuals, etc. Also after taking this course, I saw art cross into the fashion world so I was partially right initially when I said art was a CRAFT. Art can marry anything and it would be art. Art can marry music, art can marry fashion, art can marry cooking (cake decor) (food decor) and lastly, art can marry the imagination to create wonders on a canvas.
3. Who was your favorite artist in your original posting and who is your favorite visual artist now? If there is a difference, why do you think so? If you have the same favorite artist, why do you think so?
Honestly, in my original posting, I did not have a favorite artist. I just now fell in love with Canadian artist, Stephen Gibb. I did some exploring and found him and I did my whole art curation on his pieces of work. I love the way he conveys stories through his artwork and Its just overall visually pleasing because you never get bored looking at it due to there being so much going on and so much to analyze/interpret.
4. Now that you've completed this course, how do you feel about taking an online course? Is your answer the same as it was in your first posting? How is it the same or different?
Now that I've completed this course I feel confident in taking an online course. My answer is completely different because It wasn't something that "I forgot" to do it was something always on my mind and I set a day in my "real world" routine to get into the digital world and get to work. The only thing that I said was the same was the convenience. Having online classes are highly convenient and the demand is not that high. It is a chill setting for me and I enjoyed it. This is actually great considering what's going on now. I feel like some professors can take some tips and tricks from you to better their unstructured "remote" classes.
