Questions about the Place:

2. What is the URL of the Gallery/Museum you visited?
https://artsandculture.google.com/partner/moma-the-museum-of-modern-art
3. Why did you select this Gallery/Musuem? I'm familiar with this museum as it is located in NYC and I am from there. I used to visit this museum often in highschool. I love the art here

Questions about the physical space. 1. What type of lighting is used? I want to say LED lights but I'm not sure
2. What colors are used on the walls?
The walls were either white or off white and then the artwork was hung so it made it kind of either stand out or blend in a little
3. What materials are used in the interior architecture of the space? Shelves to put the artwork on it, lights so people can view the artwork, glass cases to contain some of the artwork
4. How is the movement of the viewer through the gallery space? Everything was pretty close together so the movement wasn't hard for the viewer.

Questions about the artwork:1. How are the artworks organized? The artworks were organized by category according to the display on the site.
2. How are the artworks similar? The use of oil on a canvas and that fact that they were paintings
3. How are the artworks different? Some artworks were paintings depicted different things. The subject matter and time periods were different. Some were displays or photographs and not paintings.
4. How are the artworks framed? The artworks had different color and size frames
5. How are the artworks identified and labeled? The artworks were identified by title and artist
6. What is the proximity of the artwork to each other? I feel like the artworks were pretty close to each other they weren't too spaced out.

Three of the artworks from the show: Art Criticism Portion describe, analyze, bracket and interpret

Artwork 1: In The Seed of the Areoi, by Paul Gauguin (1892), there is a naked woman with bronze skin. She is sitting on a designed cloth that has a distinct pattern. There are fruits and it looks like a picnic in nature. The yellow flowers are standing tall in the background and the flowers that are closer to the woman are pink and vibrant. The woman in this painting looks peaceful and relaxed. I'll say the artist used emphasis. The woman is the largest thing in the painting, she stands out around all of the vibrant colors, and she was placed almost in the middle of the painting. She is embracing her nudity and has a calm look on her face. She almost looks inviting as she looks back at us through the painting and as her hand rests on a spot next to her.

Artwork 2: In The Bather, by Paul Cezanne (1885), there is a naked man who stands in the center of the painting with his hands on his hips. He appears to be outside by water or something, it is quite unclear. His body looks average and he is a skinny fit man but he does not appear to be that strong. He looks defeated as he holds his head down. The artist was making a statement because during this time men were depicted with chiseled abdomens and strong stances. This painting is the complete opposite. The man is half-naked and his body is average. he holds his head down in defeat and not holding it up in victory as depicted in other works of art.

Artwork 3: In The Dream by Henri Rousseau (1910), there is a naked, somewhat curvaceous woman who is laying down on furniture (a softa I believe) in the middle of the forest. Wild animals and wild plans surround her and she looks like she is unfazed by this, almost as if this is her natural habitat. It looks like night time as the moon is out in the blue sky. The artist might be showing a love for nature here in this painting.

What did you think of "visiting" the Gallery and purposefully looking at the exhibition from a different perspective - the physical space, the architecture, theme, etc.?

I actually did not like this layout. I would have preferred to be in the art gallery to take in and appreciate the artworks up close and personal. Alternatively, I would've preferred just viewing the specific individual artworks in picture mode. Looking at the physical space was interesting because while in the gallery we don't really pay too much attention to that-- at least I don't. The theme was nice I loved the different paintings.
