1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces? I selected these pieces because they're all self-portraits. I also selected them because some were up close and personal and some had some distance to it. They also gave me an idea of how to pose and position myself.
2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait? I selected this media because honestly it was all I had at the time and I didn't want to ruin it further.
3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them? There were so many. It took so much focus to even draw myself and I feel like it did not come out right either way. I wasn't in a good mood while I was drawing which impacted my focus. I had to erase so many times and start certain things over. I'm no artist but I feel like I can draw with the right amount of focus.
4. How does this piece represent you? This piece represents me because my tattoos symbolize a lot and they are on my body for life. Another thing is my hair I'm always spontaneously changing my hair color + hairstyle and not a lot of people are confident enough to keep doing that. Another thing is the Japanese I added above my head. I've been studying and that is how you spell my name Mikayla in Japanese.
5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work? I used lines to draw myself, balance/symmetry to make sure both sides of my face kind of look the same. Pattern because my tattoos have some kind of a pattern. Line again because my shirt had so many lines on it.
6. Did you enjoy working on this project? It was a challenge but I did enjoy working on this it was relaxing.
7. What do you think of your final artwork? I'll give my final work a 7/10. I tried my best.
