Entry #4

Value Scale

Color Theory

1. Discuss what you thought about creating the Value Scale and Color Wheel.
Creating the value scale was quite interesting because I had to figure out how to make the perfect gradient so that the last square I was working on is lighter than the next square until it became darker.
2. Which media did you enjoy working with the best and why?
I enjoyed working with the paint over the gradient scale. It kind of relaxed me to paint, mix colors, and create new colors. Creating the value scale required precision and it was less relaxing because I had to focus.
3. What was the most important discovery in the creation of these studies?
While creating the value scale I realized that one color can shift its value usually going from light to dark. And it takes a lot of effort to get the value correct. While making the color wheel I learned the correct primary colors and that my life has been a lie because I thought it was red, blue, and yellow.
4. What is the most important information you learned from watching the videos for this project? What is your opinion of the videos?
I was mind blown by the color wheel video and even with my efforts to purchase the paint because I never really had to buy paint for anything and had I not watched the video, I would have gotten wrong paint. I learned that what I thought were primary colors my whole life are not primary colors. I learned that it was originally magnet, cyan, and yellow that really made the color wheel. I found this quite interesting.
